Alex Dale Pens Sci-Fi Thriller "Omniscient" Screening at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival

What does a teenage telepath do when her estranged father is bent on using her powers for his radical cult? This dilemma is the basis for the science fiction short movie Omniscient, which will premiere at theCannes Film Festival in May 2016.

Produced by Bella Luce ProductionsOmniscient stars Delaney Joy, Luke Broyles, Hannah Barefoot, and Alex Dale. With a running time of just under twelve minutes, this sci-fi short follows Grace (Joy), a powerful fourteen-year-old telepath and her mother, Amanda (Barefoot), as they struggle to escape the clutches of Grace's father, Lucien (Broyles). As the deranged leader of a cult that purports to rid the world of evil, Lucien's goal is to kidnap Grace to pass her telepathic gift to his followers.

But to do so, he must suppress his fatherly instincts and contend with his ex-wife, Amanda, and his protege, Rex (Dale). The clock is ticking. Has Lucien underestimated his adversaries? And has he forgotten that old saying: “Be careful what you wish for, you may get it?”

This is the story that made it into the Cannes Film Festival, the world’s oldest and most prestigious film festival. Situated on the French Riviera, Cannes provides a picturesque setting for the festival. And because it is not open to the public, filmmakers are able to market their films on the basis of artistic quality.
